Valladolid-gateway to Chichén Itzá and Río/Ría

Smaller less traveled to city of Valladolid, where I recuperated for three nights and four days after the craziness of Tulum and Cancún. A short ½-hour bus ride to Chichén Itzá and another 1½-hours trip in the complete opposite direction to Río Lagartos in the Yucatán's central northeastern sector.

For only $10 a night I stayed at a family-run hostel, La Posada Terminal, which was across the street and half a block down from the bus station. All rooms are in the back, quiet and with fans only, but talk with little Fernando, 5, who insists, "I'm married to.....a girl in my kindergarten class!"
